With a smart, fun attitude, Chinook Book has become a beloved consumer media brand promoting sustainable communities and shopping local. The parent company, Celilo Group Media, is seeking an experienced consumer and digital marketer to fill a new position in the company as VP/Director of Marketing.
Celilo has been a leader in local green media and promotions for the past decade. The company recently completed a capital raise and is moving rapidly into the field of mobile media.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in successful strategic marketing and product planning and analysis, as well as consumer brand management and project execution, with particular expertise in digital and mobile. The top near-term objective for the company and this position is exponential growth of the mobile Chinook Book platform.

Responsibilities:
- Translates business, brand, customer needs and co-worker input into product features and marketing strategies that drive business objectives, including achieving growth targets for mobile users;
- Creates holistic marketing and product roadmap plans (long-term, seasonal and reactive) that integrate customer and business needs, and then partners with co-workers to translate those plans into appropriate tactics for each part of the business;
- Playing the role of key filter for customer experience;
- Leads the development of annual and seasonal investment and communication strategies that will drive customer response and affinity;
- Owns and manages planning of annual and seasonal marketing calendar, including re-allocating tactics and strategies based on changes in brand, business or customer needs;
- Incorporates business needs, larger brand goals, customer data, competitive analysis, marketing effectiveness and budget parameters into the marketing planning process;
- Plans the messaging and timing for all marketing activity;
- Owns marketing investments across all products (print, web, mobile) and channels (retail, digital, fundraising);
- Sales lead development and supporting sales teams with market insights and competitive analysis;
- External vendor/creative agency management.
Qualifications:
- Strong track record of successfully building sales of consumer brands in an entrepreneurial environment
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team to create a product roadmap and drive product strategies
- Digital marketing experience
- Creativity and vision
- Superior communication skills, oral and written
- Messaging and brand management expertise
- Proven leadership and management skills
- An interest and track record of involvement in sustainability issues
- Superior interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- BA or BS strongly desired
