A position with RMT offers you the opportunity to be involved in the full life-cycle of wind and solar projects, from project development through the design and construction phases of work. RMT is a division of Alliant Energy and has been established for over 30 years. RMTs renewable energy team has helped build over 3800 MW of utility scale wind farms in 20 states in the US. In addition, we are currently working on several solar projects in the US.

We are currently looking for a strong leader for our Solar Construction group.

Position Overview:

The Vice President, Solar Construction, is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing solar energy construction projects and processes in a timely, safe and environmentally conscious manner, in order to maintain and improve competitive position and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Member of leadership team involved in setting strategic goals for the organization and responsible for establishing project management practices to best meet the organizations strategy.
  • Provide input to business development and estimating group related to solar projects.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to Project Managers and staff on construction sites.
  • Plan, organize and assign projects management staff to accommodate the specific project requirements.
  • Responsible for project and risk management related to the execution of solar projects.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with RMT clients, other RMT work units, local representatives, subcontractors, unions and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze and monitor spending versus schedule, performance versus budget, and makes course corrections as required.
  • Ensure corporate/project policies and procedures are followed and make recommendations for optimization of these to the leadership team.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the area of safety; which requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, holding people accountable for safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents.
  • Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and distribution of construction reporting requirements and integration with project reports. Provide information and updates to President.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding project performance/financial goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a 4 year degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industrial construction. Experience with self-performing projects preferred. Prior experience managing renewable energy construction project preferred. Specific experience with solar projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated financial skills such as the budget process, how to interpret and understand financial reports, and financial evaluations.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Demonstrated success in project management.
  • Proven ability to establish and implement strategic plans and organization vision and mission.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
