Vice President - Carbon Disclosure Project - USA

The Carbon Disclosure Project is seeking a highly motivated and well-networked individual to lead the US operations of the world's leading climate change charity.

Responsibilities:

  • growing the Carbon Disclosure Project's influence and effectiveness in the United States
  • managing and supporting the current US team
  • maintaining and leveraging relationships with current CDP sponsors, partners and funders
  • developing robust strategic new partnerships with government agencies, accounting bodies, data providers, exchanges, leading investors, corporations, foundations and academic institutes
  • working closely with CDP's signatory investors to improve the quality of data reported to CDP
  • working closely with the S&P500 companies to drive carbon accounting and management high up the corporate agenda
  • securing high level speakers for CDP launch events
  • leading projects in collaboration with the US EPA to improve disclosure by corporations and action on disclosure by investors
  • proactive engagement with the US government, accounting bodies and peer NGO's

The successful candidate will have:

  • a clear understanding of the aims, objectives and processes of the Carbon Disclosure Project
  • a passionate desire to drive forward the mission of the Carbon Disclosure Project
  • strong leadership skills
  • excellent and proven public speaking skills
  • at least 10 years experience in either the investor, corporate or non-profit sectors
  • at least 3 years managerial expertise
  • extensive knowledge of climate change from a business and investor perspective
  • excellent awareness of US policy developments on climate change and their implications for business
  • sound understanding of global policy action on climate change and how the USA fits in with the current efforts towards a post 2012 global agreement on climate change
  • ability to multi-task and take the initiative at all times

The successful candidate will work 5 days per week with occasional weekend or evening work where necessary. It is expected there will be substantial travel around the United States.

Salary: $80 - 100k. Benefits: Annual bonus, 24 days vacation, health insurance, pension provision after 3 months employment
