Safari Energy saw an opportunity to apply its financial and operational acumen to the dynamic and rapidly emerging possibilities unfolding in the U.S. solar power sector by developing commercial-scale solar photovoltaic energy systems to reduce energy expenses for large real estate owners in the United States.
Safari Energy develops, designs, builds, owns and operates the solar energy assets, situated on customers' rooftops and grounds, and sells the energy through long term power purchase agreements. Using proven technology, the company can supply a significant portion of client long-term energy needs at a substantial discount to their current utility retail electricity rates.

Position Overview:
The Vice President, Business Development will join the business development team to lead deal origination and execution of solar development opportunities across the United States. He or she will be expected to originate client and project opportunities, manage customer relationships and interact with a host of third-party partners including utilities and financial institutions.
In addition, the successful candidate will coordinate with the CFO and the operations team to maintain cost estimates, federal and state incentive information and other critical assumptions. Considerable experience structuring transactions, executing deals, building relationships and managing people is required, as is the entrepreneurial mindset to operate successfully as a leader within a fast-paced, early-stage company environment.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and reviewing the financial analysis and customer presentation process
- Interacting with customers and on an ad hoc basis
- Researching and exploring strategic growth opportunities across new geographies, customer bases and market segments
- Implementing a highly efficient deal execution process
- Managing multiple live deals simultaneously, while developing and accessing others
- Working closely with customers to understand and manage all substantive project issues around tax, legal, financial aspects of the deal
- Interfacing with the Operations team on all issues related to engineering, construction and technical specifications
- Interfacing with the Finance team to develop and structure project and portfolio financings
- Helping to develop and implement a long term marketing strategy

- The following goals and objectives - measures of success have been identified for attention and focus of the Senior Vice President - Business Development:
- Quickly come up to speed on existing projects and current pipeline
- Identify and pursue key business development opportunities
- Lead on deal execution including managing models, presentations, junior team members and clients
- Foster an environment of cohesive teamwork that delivers best-in-class service and superior results to clients
Qualifications:
Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking, and thrive in the fast pace of an early stage company with tremendous growth potential. In addition, the VP Business Development must possess:
- Minimum 4 years investment banking experience, preferably in the energy sector
- Proven ability to execute complex deals while building relationships with senior management of customers
- Track-record of successfully executing complex transactions with multiple parties
- Proven ability to motivate, manage and lead a team
- Outstanding managerial, organizational and people skills
- Understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems
- Understanding of commercial real estate and project finance
- Desire to play a key role building a high growth company
