Idaho Department of Fish and Game(IDFG) located in Jerome, ID with assistance from the Hailey, ID based Wood River Land Trust a 501c(3) Non-profit and Blaine County Planning and Zoning Department are offering a summer field position to verify habitat cover types in Blaine County.
The position is a three month term (duration negotiable) to run from July 1st -September 30th 2006.
Responsibilities include leading a field verification survey of habitat cover types based from a draft Wildlife Overlay District Map created by Idaho Department of Fish and Game. The Wildlife Overlay District Map will help plan for wildlife habitat protection in Blaine County, ID on a county wide scale. Responsibilities may also include GPSing GAP boundaries to verify the county vegetation boundaries are accurate. The field staff person would report to IDFG to create the methodology for survey techniques and to create a work completion timeline. Wood River Land Trust staff would also be available to assist the field person hired.
Qualifications: Background in western plant communities and scientific field study experience preferred. Bachelors Degree or previous experience in: range management, ecology, wildlife management, biology, or a related field. The person hired must be independent and a self starter. Must own a vehicle able to travel on dirt roads.
Compensation: $6,760 for three months plus $1,000 gas reimbursement.
