North Bend State Park

Position begins ASAP, runs 3 months 

Named for the horseshoe curve of the North Fork of the Hughes River, North Bend State Park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful pastoral setting. Located in western West Virginia in the majestic Appalachian Mountain foothills this 2300 acre park is engulfed in mature forestlands and has a 305-acre lake with endless wildlife viewing opportunities along its hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. 

Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of a trail marking system that will be user friendly and low in maintenance; assist with organizing volunteer groups who will peform trail construction and maintenance. 

Training Opportunities: Trail layout and construction techniques; using International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) standards; personal safety for tools used during trail construction; basic first aid. Opportunity to participate in a voluntary capacity in special events and seasonal programming sponsored by the park. Sessions may include nature walks guided tours historical re-enactments and field trips to neighboring state and county parks. 

Qualifications: Must have valid driver's license; basic knowledge of GPS technology; knowledge of plants, trees and wildlife species. 

Agency will provide housing.
