Position Overview

Alderson Broaddus University seeks applications for a nine-month, tenure track faculty position in Biology. Applicant will be expected to teach a variety of courses to students earning a bachelor's degree in a program preparing graduates for careers in biological and environmental sciences. Candidates with expertise in mammalogy, herpetology and/or entomology will be given preferential consideration. 

Responsibilities 

• The primary instructional responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to teach lectures and labs for courses on introductory biology and upper level organismal classes.
• The person hired will also be expected to teach science courses supporting our Education and Liberal Studies programs.
• The job requirements of the position include serving as the academic advisor for students majoring in biology and other programs within the College of Science, Technology and Mathematics (STM).
• This postion also develops and coordinates internship opportunities.
• This position advises senior research projects required by all of our graduates.
• Preference will also be given to candidates who have demonstrated the development of experiential and service learning opportunities for their students.

Qualifications  

• Applicants for the position should possess a minimum of a master's degree in Biology, Ecology or related fields; a doctorate is preferred.
• The applicant should demonstrate evidence of successful college-level teaching.
• The applicant should possess good communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to work collegially with other higher education faculty within STM and across the institution.

Compensation: Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and educational qualifications.
