Agrium Advanced Technologies, a decentralized Strategic Business Unit of Agrium, is currently recruiting for the following temporary position located in Loveland, Colorado: Environmental Coordinator.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, EH&S this position will be responsible for the implementation of environmental programs and will work closely with operations staff at all Agrium Advanced Technologies (AAT) sites to ensure environmental compliance and stewardship. This is a 1 year contract position, expected to end on November 26, 2010.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and assistance on environmental matters and support and consultation to all AAT locations across Canada and the US, on legislated and company environmental requirements
- Monitor and assist with the implementation of the AAT EH&S Management System (EMS)
- Put into action and train Spill Contingency and Environmental Emergency Plans specific to each site
- Develop, implement and maintain an Environmental Education Program for the site staff at all locations
- Actively participate in the AAT Audit Plan by providing expertise on environmental matters
- Monitor the sites' environmental performance and report to the Manager, EH&S as required, and drive initiatives for improvement
- Collect and compile environmental data for the Agrium Sustainability Report
- Assist sites with their waste management programs, including assistance with arranging for disposal, waste classification, and improvement initiatives
- Compile and submit monthly data to Corporate EH&S for environment, health and safety performance indicators, in conjunction with the Manager, EH&S
- Assist sites in obtaining the necessary environmental permits for operation or construction by dealing with regulatory agencies
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Environmental Sciences or Studies
- Knowledge of US regulations; Experience working with environmental legislation in Ontario a definite asset
- Knowledgeable in regulatory permitting and compliance
- 1-3 years experience in a similar role, in an industrial environment
- Well developed organizational and communication skills
- Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills
- Demonstrated analytical and reporting capabilities
- Ability to work independently and travel, as position serves all North-American sites
- Highly proficient in Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of the fertilizer and pesticide industries would be an asset
