Position Overview
We have an immediate opening for a Technical Support Representative in the Wind Energy Systems group.
The main responsibility of this position will be to provide accurate and timely technical support to our customers, Vaisala Field Engineers, field contractors, and Vaisala sales team members. In this role you will ensure the timely resolution of technical problems. Additionally, you will monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot weather and diagnostic data from a worldwide fleet of products related to the wind energy industry.

Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely technical support to customers, Vaisala Field Engineers, field contractors, and Vaisala sales team members, ensuring the timely resolution of problems by following specific guidelines and general instructions.
- Provide detailed phone and email troubleshooting support of complex mechanical, electrical, embedded data collection systems.
- Monitor and analyze weather and diagnostic data from worldwide fleet of products, specifically for the Wind Energy Systems products.
- Data collection, interpretation and documentation of wind energy data in support of customers and Vaisala team members.
- Collect, interpret and document data daily from Vaisala products in the field using software tools in order to ensure the smooth operation of product. Ensure operational status is communicated to Sales team and other concerned parties.
- Regular communication both internally in Vaisala and with customers as well as the responsibility of internally training and supporting other regional teams and Services Specialists globally.
- Create and close Service Requests, Technical Support troubleshooting actions, offering or instructing customers how to obtain basic product material, finding proper channels for system support, spare part (or other pre-sales requests), initiating a depot or field service case and tracking it to resolution, helping with customer surveys and complaint management, communicating with customers to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient resolution of customer issues.
- Ensure accurate documentation of issue(s) and problem resolution.
- Prepare data analysis and performance reports for data collected and submit to manager.
- Assist with installation and service call scheduling and coordination.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of products.
- Monitor remote control operation of heater software for products in the field during seasonal periods, as required.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong customer focus.
- Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills in support of complex mechanical, electrical, embedded data collection systems. Must be able to identify a problem quickly and provide a resolution.
- ‘Can-Do' positive attitude.
- Previous experience working directly with customers and know how to develop strong relationships.
- Motivated to improve the current state and seek solutions to problems focusing on continuous improvements.
- Excellent communicator, both written and oral with strong negotiation skills.
- Innovative and creative in searching for better ways to do things.
- High level of integrity and organizational commitment, while being results focused.
Required Qualifications:
- A background in the Vaisala Service organization is a plus but is not a requirement.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred in technical field or Engineering.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, embedded systems.
- Strong leadership skills; training on skills necessary to lead others without direct reporting responsibility.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct customer experience.
