Home Power Magazine, the leading publisher of practical, hands-on instruction for renewable energy projects, is seeking part- and full-time Technical Editors to join our crew.

The ideal candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of three to five years' system design and installation experience, with most or all of the following residential/small commercial project types: grid-tie PV, off-grid PV, wind-electric, and hydro-electric.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NEC and system installation best practices.
  • Experience with RE component datalogging and performance evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of the RE industry's business landscape, hardware, and technology trends.
  • Solid knowledge of RE financial incentive program structures, trends, and legislation at utility, state, and federal levels.
  • Respect for tight deadlines; the ability to contribute to a team-oriented creative process; and above-average organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills, including Mac OS.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Excel.
  • Science and math proficiency.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Editing, reviewing, proofing, and fact-checking Home Power's magazine and Web site content for technical accuracy.
  • Writing supporting copy, technical sidebars, and feature article content.
  • Reviewing article proposals for audience suitability.
  • Assisting our content editors and authors in all phases of article development; making recommendations for editorial direction, data presentation, supporting graphics, images, tables, etc.
  • Staying current on all relevant RE technology, financial incentives, and legislative trends.
  • RE component testing and evaluation.
  • Attending RE industry events and trainings.
  • Reports to: Managing Editor.
