Position Overview:
Canal Alliance seeks a qualified detail-oriented and thorough person who demonstrates a passion for facilitating success and enjoys working with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds to fill the role of Sustainable Business Specialist.
The Sustainable Business Specialist will be a key member of our new Sustainable Business Center (SBC) which provides sustainable business training and one-on-one advising primarily to Spanish speaking entrepreneurs. This position will also be responsible for managing a new organizational-wide program aimed at improving people's incomes through small businesses, job acquisition and promotion.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, enhance and deliver entrepreneurial training
- Provide one-on-one business advising
- Implement and supervise the new Income Enhancement program
- Promote development of environmentally sustainable business practices
- Create and support administrative structure necessary for efficient operation of the SBC
- Develop and deliver small business workshops on advanced topics
- Represent SBC at external events
- Develop collaborations and referrals with other agencies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Desired Skills and Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree - preferably in business related field
- Spanish bilingual with excellent abilities to read, write, speak and understand Spanish and proficient in all aspects of English communication
- Education background and experience in sustainability
- Entrepreneurial and/or small businesses experience
- Experience delivering classes/trainings - preferably in Spanish
- Highly proficient with technology including Microsoft Office programs, Internet applications and resources
- Experience working with low-income immigrant populations
- Flexibility to work 1 night per week and occasional Saturdays
- Ability to work well in team environment
Compensation: Compensation will commensurate with experience, benefits package includes medical, optional 403(b) and Med125 plans. Position is non-exempt, full-time.
