Position Overview:
Provide subject matter expertise on environmental sustainability contributing to strategic direction, market communications, internal communications and implementation. Work globally (with primary focus on North America) and cross-functionally to coordinate, align and proactively implement environmental sustainability initiatives encompassing the full value chain of the company's products and services. Interface with key external stakeholders/partners on the company's environmental sustainability initiatives to support strategic direction.

Strong individual contributor, effective communicator and skilled project manager with demonstrated global experience and a relentless capacity to work across functions and organizational bounds to advance Avery Dennison's capabilities and reputation regarding sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide sustainability subject matter expertise and guidance to Avery Dennison's Roll Materials group (Label and Packaging Materials group) to proactively define and leverage market opportunities, design measurement/monitoring tools, assess technology and aid in decision making.
- Develop a global Sustainability Dashboard to track progress against sustainability metrics and goals.
- Teach others the value and applicability of life cycle thinking around products.
- Support education program on sustainability. Develop and deliver training to various employee and management groups across regions on big-picture environmental awareness, environmental development guidelines, customer and vendor environmental scorecards, environmental metrics and sustainability initiatives. Champion "green is good business" message and culture.
- Sustainability Partnership: Contribute to collaborations with customers, end users, industry coalitions and non-government organizations to progress sustainability initiatives that benefit the organization and planet.
- Evaluate and recommended brand possibilities relating to sustainability.
- Provide technical support and content to project teams in different global regions and ensure alignment and credibility on product and market communications.
- Support sales and marketing in leveraging revenue opportunities.
- Develop and deliver customer and internal training on sustainability, promoting employee engagement.
- Assist with prioritizing and supporting advocacy positions.
- Assist in identifying and engaging key external stakeholders/partners on Roll Materials' environmental sustainability initiatives to support strategic direction.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Industrial Ecology, Engineering or a related field.
- Advanced degree (MBA or Environmental Engineering) with emphasis on Sustainability preferred
- Superior communications skills (written, oral and presentation).
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information to be comprehended by nontechnical audiences.
- Strong cross-organizational management skills and experience leading and contributing to projects involving global teams.
- Experience and comfort working with in a matrix management structure
- Good working knowledge of external landscape and associated dynamics that influence emerging market requirements across the globe.
- Materials product management experience desirable
- Strong systems thinking and decision making skills.
- 3-5 years experience in environmental sustainability field.
