Position Overview  

Pure Strategies seeks a Sustainability Associate to supplement our senior staff in support of our corporate clients and market research program. For over 16 years, our company has helped leading companies obtain the business benefits of sustainability through improvements in strategy, operations, products, and supply chains.

The Sustainability Associate will work collaboratively and independently to contribute to the team's client projects across industries and project areas and support our company's market research program in corporate sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working independently, critical analysis, collaboration, written communication, and providing high quality results.

Note: Title, wage, and exact job responsibilities will be based on education and experience. 

Work Environment 

Pure Strategies offers a highly flexible work environment. Team members collaborate on projects but have a high degree of autonomy. The Sustainability Associate must be able to deliver highly effective results working from a home office in a virtual team and on site. 

This full-time salaried position is located in the Boston North Shore or Metro DC area, and is primarily telecommuting, but will be required to work at either the Gloucester, MA or Reston, VA office 1-­2 days per week. Travel will be limited and mostly involve periodic meetings in these locations. 

Responsibilities

• Support the consulting and research teams on a variety of corporate, product, and supply chain sustainability issues including but not limited to: conducting literature reviews; collecting, organizing and analyzing data; and benchmarking corporate activities. 
• Carefully document research and work progress. 
• Synthesize and write findings for internal and corporate client audiences. 
• Assist in editing and compiling reports and presentations and related deliverables. 
• Perform other related duties at the direction of project teams to support client and research project objectives. 
• Execute multiple tasks for several team members.  

Qualifications  

Requirements:

• BS Degree (science, environmental or engineering) degree. 
• Minimum 3-­4 years of professional experience. 
• Project management experience. 
• Experience in sustainability. 
• A versatile self-starter that can quickly learn and work independently. 
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills. 
• Proven research and analytical skills and problem solving ability. 
• Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. 
• Superior time management skills and highly organized. 
• Careful attention to detail. 
• Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well in a virtual team environment.
• Beneficial additional skills and characteristics.
• Graduate degree in science or business.
• Record of academic excellence.
