Summer Internship Opportunity
Conservation International's Verde Ventures program seeks a summer intern to work with one of its portfolio investment partners in southern Belize.
Background:
The Verde Ventures fund is an investment fund managed by Conservation International that provides debt and equity investments to international small-medium sized businesses which directly contribute to biodiversity conservation. Description of Internship:
Verde Ventures is seeking an intern to spend a maximum of 4 weeks before July 1st in southern Belize training Verde Ventures portfolio investment, Belize Lodge and Excursions (BLE), in essential bookkeeping and financial reporting for internal management and external investors.
BLE is in the process of completing two high-end ecolodges and needs assistance in developing the bookkeeping and financial reporting skills of its local staff. For more information on BLE, please visit their website at www.belizelodge.com.
Requirements:
-Intern must have a strong background in MYOB and QuickBooks Pro accounting software, and a solid background in bookkeeping and finance.
-Applicant must also have excellent communication skills in English.
-Preferably, applicant would also have accounting/financial experience in the hospitality sector as well as developing country business experience.
Remuneration:
This position will be unpaid, but applicant will receive a roundtrip ticket from the US to Belize as well as free room and board at a luxury ecolodge during the month in Belize.
