The Earth Rangers Education Team is the department that oversees all outreach-related activities. Collectively, the department is responsible for creating and delivering in-school shows, designing age-appropriate material for students, developing curriculum-linked resources for teachers - all in an effort to encourage and inspire children to take action to protect the planet. We liaise and coordinate bookings with schools, establish relationships with new partners and ensure that our message of youth-driven environmental stewardship is delivered professionally and effectively.

Position Overview:

The Education Team is searching for individuals to act as goodwill ambassadors for the Earth Rangers Studio at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). While providing excellent customer service in a theatre setting, duties and responsibilities will include: providing general information about The ROM, Earth Rangers and the various venues including restrooms, restaurants and telephones, assisting with guest seating and ticketing as needed, alerting staff to any guest's special needs or emergency situations, guiding patrons to exits, providing other instructions in case of emergency and ensuring adherence to safety rules.

The individual must be available for at least one the following shifts; Monday and Wednesday: 10 am -3 pm, Friday: 4-9 pm and Saturday and Sunday: 10 am - 1 pm, 1-4 pm. Please note the show will launch on Saturday, May 16th.

Qualifications: 

• Must be a team player, possess a positive attitude and be flexible, friendly and courteous with guests and peers.
• Must be physically capable of performing all usher tasks, including being able to stand for at least 90 minutes, to bend and lift up to 5 pounds, to read small print and to assist guests in wheelchairs.
• Must be prepared to perform all usher tasks including troubleshooting problematic situations, thinking quickly in an emergency, and working with all age groups including small children.
• Must be comfortable working around animals including birds, mammals and reptiles.
• Must be 18 years old or older.

What time commitment is required?

• A commitment of 1 day per week.
• A minimum of 3 hours per day (volunteers must be able to stay for the entire shift).
• A commitment of 1 year would be ideal.
• 4 hours of ROM Volunteer Training. Customer Service training may be required. This session will take place in early May.
