Position Overview:
The Strategic Business Manager's responsibilities and tasks will range from the highly strategic investigations of business and delivery models for new growth opportunities to tactical administrative management of key processes. This position requires excellent planning, budgeting, collaboration and people skills. Examples include:
- Managing and coordinating the consolidation of multiple budgets, timelines and energy savings goals to provide quarterly and annual updates at the sector level
- Creating and coordinating an ongoing system for workload management
- Providing input to establishing performance metrics, and managing sector metrics including profitability and review and analysis of overhead charges
- Managing the design and coordinating the implementation of processes and procedures to improve the efficiency of the sector
Responsibilities:
- Workload forecasting for a 80+ person consulting group
- Sector level program budget coordination and management, including developing and reporting sector wide statistics and a business scorecard
- Develop processes and systems to provide financial oversight, and assure compliance with budgets, including management and oversight to ensure timely expense reporting
- Management of administrative budgets
- Coordinate staff conference attendance, including associated budget management
- Investigate business and delivery models for new products and markets, and provide financial analysis support
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in finance, business or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Strong financial management skills and proven business acumen
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with the proven ability to collaborate and work effectively across diverse work groups with employees at all levels of the organization
- Able to plan, track, analyze and communicate complex financial and performance data to make informed business decisions
- Experience in developing and implementing business processes and systems and/or process improvement
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, with proven analytical skills and experience in strategic and tactical roles, and able to shift easily between the strategic and tactical
- Strong project management skills
- Skilled in MS Office Suite, expert in Excel
- Experience in performance management role for a consulting organization is preferred
- Experience managing professional staff is preferred
