Position Overview
The National Forest Foundation (NFF) seeks a temporary Sustainable Tourism and Outdoor Recreation (STOR) Corps Crew Leader who is responsible for supervising up to 10 STOR Corps Crewmembers and work under the direction of the Gunnison County Stewardship Coordinator; assisting the STOR Committee, Gunnison County, and the National Forest Foundation (NFF) in in achieving sustainable recreation and environmental stewardship objectives in the summer of 2020.
Duties include:
Supervisor for Crewmembers, develop daily workplans, facilitate visitor outreach and education activities at local trailheads and campgrounds, tabling at events, and land stewardship work including trail work, habitat restoration, campground improvements, and other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Must possess an Associate or Bachelor’s degree or some combination of similar education;
- Volunteer coordination experience is preferred;
- Experience with outdoor recreation, volunteerism, education, and/or conservation and knowledge of or willingness to learn Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Gunnison County, and other public land management policies, procedures, and regulation; an understanding of natural resources issues in Gunnison County;
- Be proficient in driving, hiking, and working in mountain environments;
- Ability to represent Gunnison County and the NFF with diverse constituents in a clear and professional manager through excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills; and
- Have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
Compensation & Location
- This position is located in Gunnison County, Colorado.
- Hourly rate is $23 per hour, and there are no benefits with this temporary position.
