The Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), New England's leading environmental advocacy group, has an immediate opening for a Staff Attorney in its Brunswick, Maine Advocacy Center.
This position offers an opportunity to be involved in creating solutions to some of the most critical environmental issues facing New England today. From climate change to clean water and ocean conservation to healthy communities and environmental justice, CLF makes a difference.
Position Overview:
Working with the director of the Maine Advocacy Center and CLF's advocacy program directors, the Maine Staff Attorney will be responsible for identifying and implementing solutions to a variety of cutting edge environmental challenges in Maine and regionally, including negotiating, litigating, advancing policy changes, coalition building, and communicating with the public.
Qualifications:
CLF seeks a highly motivated individual with at least 3-5 years of experience practicing environmental law. Expertise in energy law and litigation experience preferred.
The successful candidate will have excellent analytic abilities, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to environmental advocacy. An ability to work both independently and in team settings is a must. All candidates should have the ability to understand and explain scientific issues related to CLF's environmental advocacy; devise legal strategies for achieving advocacy goals; and manage multiple advocacy projects.
The Staff Attorney will also share in administrative and development work in support of CLF and the Maine office. All candidates should be skilled in using e-mail, word processing, and other routine software applications. CLF seeks an attorney who is tenacious yet flexible, determined, collegial, and with the highest personal and professional integrity.
Compensation: Salary depends on experience. CLF provides an excellent benefits package.
