Position Overview:
IPPsolar is looking for a full-time, experienced Solar Installation Engineer/Construction Manager that will assist the team of partners on the technical aspects of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design, engineer, and implement large scale commercial and industrial (100kw+) innovative and cost efficient commercial solar photovoltaic(PV) systems
- Manage and oversee each phase of the commercial scale project solar project development within a designated timeframe
- Attend site qualification visits, gather information, and complete the design and permitting of large scale solar electrical systems
- Perform solar site assessments and feasibility analysis and make cost effective technology selections
- Develop electrical and structural system designs and drawings, incentives and interconnection processes
- Create professional CAD drawings including one-line diagrams, structural designs, electrical designs, and system sizing
- Perform testing, inspection and certification, and ongoing maintenance and operation
- Negotiate contracts with manufacturers, integrators, electricians, and installers for all services and materials
- Coordinate and manage the development of a bill of material for each project based on the final approved design
- Obtain design approvals from additional licensed engineers as necessary
- Respond to RFPs from large commercial and industrial users
Qualifications:
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years experience designing commercial scale solar photovoltaic systems
- Extensive experience in the photovoltaic field
- Design experience with medium voltage equipment
- Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT/ Any additional experience with NitroCAD would be considered a plus
- Professional Electrical Engineering license and state electrical contractor's license highly desirable
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering would be considered a PLUS
- Experience performing design and permitting activities with an electrical engineering company is a PLUS
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working as part of a team, self-motivated, flexible, capable of generating ideas and going the extra mile
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered engineer
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Sketchup or AutoCAD
- NABCEP certified
- Possession of a C10 or C46 contractors license
Office Location: A large portion of the work for this position will be conducted on sites located throughout New Jersey. Office work will be at our office located in midtown Manhattan.
Compensation: Cash and stock, TBD based on experience and skills.
