Position Overview

The challenge? Lead and develop water resources and stormwater projects in Colorado. Our Denver office is seeking a Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager with at least 15 years of professional water engineering experience to join our team.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you can expect to:

  • Leverage your stormwater experience, including floodplain management, urban collection and conveyance systems, natural and improved open channels, water quality and detention pond systems, gravity and pressurized pipe systems, stormwater pump stations, environmental compliance, construction specifications and bid documents;
  • Conduct project management activities including staffing, schedule, budget, quality, project controls, and safety coordination for project teams. Engage in development of client relationships, business development, and proposals;
  • Apply advanced knowledge of civil engineering to engage in floodplain and drainage projects; ensure successful delivery of drainage infrastructure projects that comply with client and CH2M HILL quality, technical criteria, schedule, and budget expectations; work with project teams and provide planning, directing, technical task leadership, and coordination with supporting technical disciplines to complete integrated preliminary and final designs; 
  • Preparation of construction plans and bid document specifications; perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including both open channel and pressurized flow; evaluate conveyance facilities, including pump stations for transfer of liquids and solids, piping, and controls systems; contribute to master planning, facility planning, permitting, and design of collection, treatment and conveyance facilities; conduct study evaluations, including alternatives analysis, methods for implementation, and cost analysis; prepare technical memorandums; and
  • Provide engineering support during and after construction including coordination with facility operations and maintenance staff, contract administration, contract closeout, and warranty work; manage small to medium size projects including planning, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, safety, and coordination of internal technical and support staff; understand scopes of work, contract requirements, appropriate levels of communication through formal reporting processes and informal communication methods; work with other senior staff in business development efforts, including client contacts and relationships, proposal preparation, and project positioning activities. 

Basic Qualifications 

  • 15+ years experience in stormwater master planning, design, services during construction.
  • Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of stormwater facilities.
  • B.S. Civil or Environmental Engineering. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Masters in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
  • A Colorado Professional Engineers license.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong data analysis & technical problem solving expertise.
  • Ability to form a team and complete design tasks in a focused and efficient manner.
  • Ability to lead a group of Junior to Mid-level water resources staff through all phases of design.
  • Bachelors or 4-year degree required.
