Senior Regulatory Specialist

Position Overview:

DTA is currently seeking a Senior Regulatory Specialist for our Toronto, Ontario, office.

Responsibilities:

• Working in a group environment setting to support for a variety of complex assignments.
• Preparing, editing and reviewing technical sections for environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, resources reports and permit applications, biological assessments and other miscellaneous environmental/regulatory documents.
• Providing leadership and project management from proposal through study design, data collection and reporting.
• Coordinating the permitting process through various governmental agencies with goal of securing required governmental approvals for projects.
• Assisting in the preparation of permitting documents and advising of deficiencies in the applications.
• Participation in public hearings and make recommendations related to evaluation of the project and of any outstanding issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree in an environmental or related field is required.
• Master's Degree is considered an asset.
• Technical expertise in a related discipline (aquatics, water resources, wildlife, vegetation, soils, etc.) is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting comprehensive and screening level environmental impact assessments, preparing regulatory applications for approvals, land use permitting, and public consultation.
• Sound working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental permitting regulations is required.
• Technical writing skills and the ability to coordinate and interact with co-workers, project staff, various clients and government agencies.
• Consulting experience is an asset.
• Requires strong communication, interpersonal and multitasking skills.
