Senior Product Design Engineer

MTI MicroFuel Cells Inc., a subsidiary of Mechanical Technology, Inc., is developing direct methanol micro fuel cell systems for commercialization. The company has a world-class team of entrepreneurial business executives, researchers and scientists.

We are seeking a senior product design engineer who is a motivated, technical problem solver who can take design responsibility for aspects of a direct methanol fuel cell system product line. Experience in the entire hand-held consumer product life cycle from concept to market is required, with strong preference toward small, high-tech devices containing electronic and embedded fluid subsystems. Functions will include product design, development and testing, with a large fraction of time devoted to working with suppliers to meet product specifications. He/she must have a strong thermo dynamics, DOE, DFA and DFM background in both the development and manufacturing environment. Experience in large scale manufacturing processes including; plastic component design, injection molding techniques, stamping and etching is strongly desired. The candidate should possess strong teamwork, written and oral communication skills and be able to work within a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Minimum qualifications: BS in mechanical engineering required (MS preferred), with 5-10 years work experience. Experience with data acquisition and test plan writing is strongly preferred.
