About GreenMountain Engineering:
We are a small, rapidly growing, highly focused product development consultancy with a commitment to a loyal and expanding client base. Founded in 2003, GreenMountain provides engineering services to clean technology companies. With clients such as Konarka and OTI, we are developing photovoltaic wafer fabrication equipment, new materials applications, novel solar modules, portable hydrogen storage systems, temperature-controlled battery assemblies, drinking water treatment devices and consumer products. Using solid modeling software and multiple analysis tools, we deliver technology assessments, engineering research studies, designs, drawings, and assembled and pilot production hardware and manufacturing equipment.
GreenMountain has a reputation for hands-on prototyping and overcoming apparently unsolvable design problems. Our lab is in the SoMa district of San Francisco, conveniently located near the end of Interstate 280 and the CalTrain line. This person will conceptualize, analyze, design, build, and test mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. Tasks will include assisting with sales presentations, preparing contract proposals, working with clients to develop specifications, performing theoretical analyses, designing mechanical hardware, assembling and testing precision (and non-precision) mechanical systems, proving feasibility with instrument breadboards and delivering functional prototypes and products to clients. Person will report directly to GreenMountain's principal engineer.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
* BS/MS/PhD in mechanical engineering plus 6/4/2 or more years of work experience in an R&D environment developing prototypes and/or products
* Proven success in leading product development
* Experience in a clean technology or related industry
* Experience in designing, analyzing and developing precision electromechanical devices
* Experience solving difficult and open-ended design problems with creative solutions
* Expertise with Pro/E and/or SolidWorks (minimum 2000 hours)
* Ability to manage time and resources effectively, contributing to multiple projects within the firm
* Ability to write clear and concise assembly and test procedure documents
* Ability to give presentations to clients for informal and formal design reviews
* Demonstrated experience working with environmental technologies, organizations or issues
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
* Experience working in a consultancy and/or venture-funded startup
* Knowledge of renewable energy systems
* Knowledge of water purification and conservation, waste recycling and processing and reuse of materials
* Skills in thermal analysis and structural analysis
* Experience in optical system design
* Skills in industrial design
* Experience of patent submission
