YRG Sustainability Consultants provides strategic and technical consulting services in the areas of green development, business, and living.  YRG works with development project teams to identify appropriate sustainability goals, determine and manage an effective approach, and support successful implementation.

Position Overview: 

YRG is seeking a Senior Green Building / Sustainability Consultant to support and manage YRG projects in the areas of building design and construction, master planning, and sustainable operations.

The ideal candidate will be a sustainability generalist that can manage and direct a wide range of projects towards specific client goals, including LEED certification, material selection, energy and water efficiency, etc., and coordinate the appropriate technical and research support based on a project's ongoing needs.

Responsibilities: 

Specifically, the candidate will engage in the following tasks:

  • Project / budget management and client relations
  • Facilitating design charrettes and running ongoing project meetings
  • Performing or overseeing energy modeling, cost-benefit, and other technical analyses
  • Design team training and education
  • Product and technology research
  • Specification and plan reviews
  • Technical support and quantitative calculations for LEED compliance
  • Effectively communicating appropriate strategies and LEED compliance paths to project owners and teams
  • Staff management and collaboration

Qualifications:

At a minimum, we are looking for a LEED-AP with at least 2 years experience working on green building projects that have either achieved or pursued LEED certification.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent verbal and written communicator, have a solid understanding of building systems, technologies, and materials, urban design, sustainable operations, etc., be competent with Excel and other computer systems / web tools and resources, and have demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail.

Strong analytic skills, technical expertise and a willingness to support project teams towards optimal green building strategies and environmental performance are also important.

Additional preferred technical knowledge and experience include:

  • Energy efficient mechanical systems, shell design, lighting, and controls
  • Daylighting analysis
  • Carbon footprints analysis
  • Life cycle analysis
  • Renewable energy technologies and analytical models
  • Direct experience with the various LEED rating systems (NC, CI, CS, H, ND, S, etc.)
  • Energy modeling (eQuest, RemRate, etc.)
  • Materials and interior design
  • Architectural or engineering training
  • Presentation and training

Lastly, the successful candidate should exhibit strong time management, organizational, and presentation skills; be flexible to changes in deadlines and work focus; and be highly self-motivated.

This position will require working closely with YRG staff across our various offices (Boulder, New York, Chicago, Seattle), and with members of multiple client project teams.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
