Position Overview:
The ideal candidate for this position will be a hands-on individual who seeks a balance between analytical and report writing tasks and engineering fieldwork. If you are an energy efficiency professional with a good working knowledge of HVAC/lighting systems and commercial building controls, and are looking for a place where you can contribute and really make a difference, this may be the right position for you.
Responsibilities:
- Work under senior project managers to develop and manage project plans that meet project goals, schedules and budgets while effectively utilizing company resources
- Develop and maintain standard efficiency measure calculation algorithms and procedures
- Develop measurement plans and perform energy calculations to measure and verify energy savings.
- Lead on-site energy audits in large commercial/industrial buildings to identify appropriate, innovative and cost effective energy conservation measures
- Perform troubleshooting of equipment using various data collection techniques and diagnostic tools. Follow all safety procedures in working around electricity and other potential hazards
- Interact with diverse group of individuals internally and at client locations
- Work closely with program manager and client to schedule project tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Prepare written analysis of findings and present recommendations for improvement in energy efficiency.
- Perform quality assurance of QuEST's products and reports
- Supervise junior-level engineers and field technicians, assisting in their training, providing technical assistance and overseeing their work
- Keep abreast of developments in technologies and data collection and analysis tools that enhance QuEST's ability to deliver high quality services
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering - Graduate degree a plus
- PE license preferred
- 4-6 years of work experience in energy efficiency
- Commissioning and/or retro-commissioning program management a plus
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- Ability to develop spreadsheet analysis for a variety of energy efficiency measures
- Excellence in working with data collection equipment
- Excellence in using energy analysis software packages (e.g. DOE-2, eQuest, Energy Pro, Metrics)
- Experience with engineering tools (e.g. AutoCad, Visio, CSI Master Spec)
- Ability to conduct field work and interact with diverse clients in a professional manner
- Good working knowledge of HVAC, lighting, motors, and refrigeration systems
- Experience in design and construction (construction management, plans and specifications, etc.)
- Knowledge of basic electrical safety and other safety procedures involving HVAC and other facility systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience writing technical elements of successful proposals
- Able to work as part of a team and be responsible for individual task completion
- Able to train/mentor junior level staff
- Good organizational skills
- Good computer skills including proficiency in Word and Excel
