Responsibilities:
- The Architectural Designer with preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assists in programming/pre-design and all phases of projects, including domestic and international multi-story mixed use, high rise residential, corporate/commercial, retail, entertainment, aviation, courthouse/justice center, hospitality, transportation, education, healthcare, science & technology, and master planning projects, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, and interiors;
- participate in all phases of urban design, mixed use, streetscapes, land use, transportation, and open space planning projects;
- conduct site analysis of existing conditions, onsite investigations, and take as built measurements; prepare traffic impact analysis;
- coordinate input from multiple senior designers and principals to translate into site plans;
- design and concept development for competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production;
- analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites and buildings;
- incorporate space planning and programming and custom detailing into designs;
- translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating LEED sustainable design principles and preparing LEED documentation, including evaluating daily sun exposure to maximize energy savings and Title 24 compliance;
- prepare sketches, working drawings, architectural detail specifications for concept design presentations and presentation packages using 2D/3D CAD, building information modeling (BIM) software, and specialized design and drawing production tools and advanced 3D modeling tools, including AutoCAD 2010, AutoCAD Architecture 2010.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor of Architecture degree (4 year) or foreign equivalent plus 7+ years progressive experience (or Master of Architecture degree or foreign equivalent plus 2 years experience) to include programming/strategic planning, conceptual design, and SD/DD/CD phases of multistory mixed use, high rise residential, commercial, education, science & technology, and urban design/master planning projects, including traffic impact analysis;
- site survey of existing conditions;
- sustainable design principles;
- design development and presentations building physical models using digital fabrication software and tools and 2D/3D software, including Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture; space planning and programming;
- estimating quantities and costs of building materials;
- and coordinating with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, landscape, acoustic, security, curtain wall, façade maintenance, and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems.
This is a full-time temporary contract opportunity (approximatley 6 months in duration) that may lead to full-time permanent employment for the right candidate. This position is not eligible for benefits and is paid at an hourly rate.
