Your Impact:

We’re looking for a Senior Climate Change Consultant to join our fast-growing, committed, and enthusiastic team. Based in the US or Canada with the option to work remotely, you’ll collaborate within many facets of our business and interact with the full spectrum of staff from the entry level engineers/scientists to the senior business unit leadership.

Based out one of US offices, you’ll support climate change/greenhouse gas/carbon management projects across the globe, providing technical knowledge while helping to grow our business. Working with some of the brightest minds in environmental consulting, you’ll act as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing expertise and leadership in the form of project management, project technical consultant, regulatory subject matter expert, or senior QA/QC reviewer on climate change related projects. Through all your work, you’ll champion quality, health, and safety. Clients will see you as their go-to contact as you build meaningful relationships by solving their toughest obstacles for managing and reducing their carbon footprint or responding to physical and transitional risks from climate change, and you’ll define and lead client overall technical strategy. We’ll rely on you to present complex technical information and interpretations to clients and regulatory stakeholders in a readily understandable manner.

You’ll apply your business development skills as you help to grow our business, working directly with our sales and client account management teams to help innovate and differentiate our service offerings. You’ll be the lead to understand technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that are practical and consider the cost benefit of carbon management and GHG strategies and options. In addition, a portion of your role will help directly on proposals including defining technical scopes and estimating level of effort.

At Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. By joining Jacobs, you’ll commit to supporting and engaging with these teams, as we work to build a company like no other.

As a positive communicator with excellent influencing ability who’s able to lead projects without direct supervision; we’ll rely on you to coordinate our team of climate action specialists, connect with our global technical experts, as well as deliver exceptional results independently. Along the way, you’ll have the support of a larger national and global community of practice who focuses on sustainability and sustainable infrastructure solutions. Bring your expertise in carbon management and desire to work on tough problems, and we’ll empower you to deliver the boldest solutions for our clients.

Jacobs health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Typical benefits offered include flexible work schedules and opportunities to work remotely, educational reimbursement, retirement benefits, employee stock purchase plan, health benefits, disability benefits, life and accident insurance, voluntary benefits, paid time off and paid holidays, and parental leave.

Typical salary range for this position is $118,400 to $155,400 , and is commensurate with experience relative to the position

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material science, environmental science, earth sciences, etc.), social science, international development, public health, public policy, political science, resource management, or a similar discipline
  • Experience speaking with clients in corporate, industrial or local government sectors about greenhouse gas inventories and mitigation strategies, and the physical risks to infrastructure, facilities, and supply chains caused by climate change.
  • Expert knowledge and past track record for delivery of climate risk and opportunity analysis per TCFD frameworks, and supporting our client’s climate change disclosures via CDP and similar programs.
  • Knowledge of corporate, municipal, and project based GHG inventories and the guidance documents to support their development
  • Experience in the carbon markets – developing carbon offset projects, writing new carbon offset methodologies, assisting clients in taking carbon emissions to market, and assisting other clients in acquisition of offsets for their own needs
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of remote practitioners
  • Experience scoping, pricing, and writing winning proposals for climate change and other sustainability projects – and then managing projects after the award

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Master’s degree in climate science or related field
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong knowledge of science-based target setting (via the SBTi program) for GHG reductions, including Scope 3 GHG emissions estimation and supply chain engagement strategies
  • Background with environmental life cycle analyses, in particular carbon footprint of industrial products and infrastructure projects, and management of embodied carbon of concrete and steel
  • Experience with environmental life cycle assessments of assets, infrastructure, and/or products.
  • Experience with delivery of projects involving the nexus of sustainable transportation, resilience, decarbonization, and social value
  • The confidence to speak on these topics at large conferences, with client senior executives, and to company internal learning networks
