Chicago Manufacturing Center (CMC) has a 15 year history of generating regional economic impact for public stakeholders by directly assisting manufacturers in implementation strategies for business sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. CMC's record of coaching business leaders and their workforce teams to dramatically reduce operating costs in order to drive investment for top line growth resulted in over $524 million of third-party verified economic impact between 2006 and 2008.
CMC and its public/private resource network implement solutions for Sustainability Strategy and Practices Coaching, Innovation and Market Diversification, Lean and Green Enterprise including Green Supplier Development, Building Retrofit, Carbon Management and Life Cycle Analysis, Materials Reuse and By-product Synergy.
The basis of our sustainability strategy and carbon management services is our depth of experience in translating what is possible, to fully operational practices for our clients, their investors and governmental stakeholders. Our client's vision, goals and challenges are CMC's guiding principles as a not-for-profit management consulting firm measuring its value for sustainable regional economic development. The City of Chicago has selected CMC as an implementation partner for their Chicago Climate Action Plan industrial sector strategies. We are located 10 S. Wacker Dr., Suite 2075, Chicago.
Position Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a business development professional that wants to be part of a sustainability consulting team. As a Chicago Manufacturing Center (CMC) Senior Business Advisor for Sales Development, the successful candidate will initiate and maintain value-creating relationships with executive-level management positions of manufacturing and technology based companies; discover the Client's needs, challenges and opportunities; advocate a Structured Solutions that clearly articulates expected results and return; and support the implementation of the Solution to ensure stated deliverables are realized by the Client.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced sale's professional with a business, technical or engineering background and 5 or more years of strong consultative sales and account management experience. In addition the candidate will have demonstrated effective time and territory management with respect to prospecting, lead generation, service delivery management, and administrative reporting. Also required are strong verbal, presentation, and written skills, as well as computer literacy in Microsoft Office.

- Self-starter, high energy, results-driven individual, account and project management skills
- Strong desire to join a mission driven not for profit team focused on sustainability
- Knowledge of Sustainability Services such as Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Management, Environmental Services and Technologies
- Knowledge of Growth Management and Operational Excellence programs (Market Development, Lean and Green Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO Certification) a plus
- Knowledge of and experience with strategic planning processes a plus
- Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations
- Grasps technical concepts, communicates them quickly, and is able to translate results into P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow impact
- Works productively with others in a team environment
- Committed to meeting qualitative and quantitative standards
- Can explain program benefits and translate into unique value propositions
- Become familiar with competitive strategy and tactics
- Able to work efficiently with optimum levels of guidance and supervision

Requirements:
- Measurable success in sales to executive and operational level people
- 4-year Degree in business, technical or engineering field; MBA a plus
- Safe driving record validated by the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles
- 5 or more years producing measurable results in consultative sales
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, especially presentations
- Demonstrated ability to create value for clients; sound business acumen
- Familiar with selling consulting services to business of manufacturing; expertise in one or more industries
Compensation: CMC offers a competitive base salary and benefits package, with an attractive commission incentive program. Each sales person is expected to create and invoice sales between $250,000 and $300,000 in their first year. Average account revenue currently ranges between $20,000 to $30,000.
This position covers some or all portions of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will Counties with expected travel to Client facilities between 50-70% of the time. There are 12,500 manufacturing companies located in these counties and the Sales Team strives to contact 300 to 400 of them each year to discuss opportunities for measurable value creation.
