The Keystone Center for Science and Public Policy (CSPP) has been helping public, private, and civic-sector leaders solve complex problems and advance good public policy since 1975. We rely on our independence, our commitment to good science, and our skills in designing and leading consensus-building processes to establish new partnerships, reduce conflict, and produce policy agreements. CSPP specializes in 3 policy areas: Energy, Environment, and Health and Social Policy.
Position Overview:
CSPP seeks a Senior Associate to assist in all aspects of project management and facilitation related to energy policy, energy technologies and climate change. The primary focus of this position for the first year will be in energy policy and transmission planning in the electricity industry.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and skills needed include:
Facilitation:
- Lead facilitator in larger meetings of high complexity and interactive webinars with large group participation in energy technology and policy.
- Developing competence for facilitating any large meeting of high complexity in any substantive area.
- Design and execute stakeholder consensus building, mediation, and fact finding processes.
Project Management:
- Competence to serve as project manager for complex projects.
- Coach and mentor associates in the energy practice area.
- Delegate responsibilities to others on the project team and track activities of project team members including providing quality control of all aspects of the project.
Marketing and Development Skills:
- Demonstrated experience and success in project research, proposal writing, and budgeting for all types of projects.
- Generate new project ideas and leads.
- Meet annual revenue targets in project development and funding.
- Build and maintain relationships with project funders and prospective project participants.
Qualifications:
Additional Attributes and skills of a successful candidate will include:
- A master's degree and/or extensive work experience in a field relevant to energy policy and technology, climate change and/or the electricity industry.
- 5-10 years of facilitation and mediation experience, alternative dispute resolution and consensus building process design and implementation.
- 40 hours of conflict resolution, process design, alternative dispute resolution or other relevant training.
- Detail oriented, organized, and efficient.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong, competent presence in front of large groups.
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Webinar set-up and management, and/or decision-modeling skills.
- Flexibility to help with whatever task is at hand.
- A Team Player. This position will work closely with experienced facilitators and project staff.
- Periodic travel is required.
Location: Preferred location is the Washington, DC office of The Keystone Center.
