Position Overview
Seasonal Project Assistants (up to 6 needed) will help research the dynamics of mammalian communities and the relationships between mammals, ticks, oak trees, and Lyme disease.
Duration of these positions are April through November 2015; and location is the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York's Hudson River Valley.
Responsibilities
- Duties include live-trapping small mammals and reliably recording pertinent data;
- Sampling abundance of ticks;
- Tree seed collection;
- Assays for tick-borne pathogens; and
- Mapping trees within eastern deciduous forest plots.
Qualifications
- Prior experience handling small mammals is highly desirable.
- Early morning and late afternoon hours are required.
Compensation: Wage is commensurate with education and experience. These positions are non-exempt and non-benefitted. On-site housing is available.
