Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park is a non-profit organization created to engage public support for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and provide services to enhance public use and enjoyment of the park.
The organization both advocates and educates on behalf of the national park, reaching out to people of all ages and businesses to build membership, provide volunteer opportunities, coordinate efforts with other partner organizations, increase fundraising, and encourage enjoyment of and participation in the many wonderful opportunities available in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park operates The Environmental Education Center, an environmental learning facility providing programs for students and educators in an urban National Park setting.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties (other duties as assigned):
The Seasonal Farm Manager is responsible for developing and delivering farm and food based education programs for children in summer camp and school year residential programs. The Farm Manager will work with partner organizations, Hale Farm and Village and the Countryside Conservancy to design farm and food curriculum that revolves around hands on experiences working at farm sites as well as visiting other farms and gardens in the area.
In addition to programming for children, the Farm Manager will be responsible for creating family programming for special events with hands on opportunities to learn about farming, the nature of farming, and the importance and significance of where our food comes from. This position is a 6-7 month seasonal position starting in late April/early May, housing may be provided.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, agriculture, environmental education, parks and recreation or other related field required Demonstrated success in developing programs for youth and adults, especially in agriculture, food and farming. The candidate must be willing to participate in farm-related activities such as planting seeds, weeding, watering and harvesting in all weather conditions. The candidate must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.
Ohio and FBI fingerprint check and driver's license check required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Compensation: Seasonal Full Time exempt position. Salary - $400-$450 per week.
