Astrocamp, a Guided Discoveries program, is a recognized leader in science education, and is located 2 hours east of Los Angeles and San Diego and 6,000 feet high in the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains.
We are seeking an exceptional, dynamic, energetic individual to manage our unique, highly successful, year-round, science education program. We specialize in the physical and earth sciences, with heavy emphasis on astronomy, as well as traditional adventure activities.
Astrocamp serves over 16,000 children annually. Facilities include two telescope observatories, 10 Meade computer-driven telescopes, CCD capabilities, classroom buildings, 5 dormitories, a gymnasium and large indoor swimming pool, indoor and outdoor ropes elements, dining hall, and several other program and residential buildings on 90 acres of land. Responsibilities include: program development, management and organization; PR with school representatives; hiring and supervision of instructional staff year-round.
Qualifications include: M.S. preferred in earth or physical sciences or a related field (B.S. considered with appropriate experience); 3 years strong administrative experience; 5 years of science teaching or equivalent experience; excellent organizational and leadership skills; creative, hands-on approach to teaching; a desire to make a difference in the lives of children; a desire to work and live in a residential environment.
