Sales Specialist For Silicon Valley Energy Watch HomeBiz Program

Ecology Action, a California-based non-profit, is a leading provider of innovative marketing and engagement programs that overcome barriers to reducing energy use and achieving environmental sustainability.

Ecology Action is engaged with PG&E and the Silicon Valley Energy Watch Program to deliver an innovative new program to home based businesses in Santa Clara County. The Silicon Valley Energy Watch HomeBiz program will provide these PG&E customers with energy efficiency solutions that help reduce their annual energy consumption and provide potential savings on their utility bills.

Position Overview:

The Silicon Valley Energy Watch HomeBiz Sales Specialist is responsible for selling residential Whole House Upgrades. The ideal candidate should be familiar with residential energy efficiency, have experience with phone sales and lead generation. The candidate must be self-motivated, be a team player and have a flexible schedule.  

Responsibilities:

• Sell Whole House Upgrade to in-home businesses operating on a residential meter 
• Develop and execute direct outreach activities, cold calling, neighborhood canvassing, training and educational presentations
• Assist with customer support, advocacy and technical assistance
• Coordinate, prepare, and staff outreach booth at events and meetings
• Represent Ecology Action at various meetings, events, workshops and related functions
• Follow direction from the Program Sales Manager with respect to local delivery of the program in a manner that is consistent with program goals and objectives
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned to meet program goals

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2+ years of proven sales experience 
• 1+ years of professional experience in environmental education and outreach, construction, energy management, customer service or related fields
• California Driver's License
• Current automobile insurance
• Access to a laptop computer, peripherals, workspace, and a high-speed Internet connection at a home office or a similar remote work location if required

Required Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Group presentation/public speaking skills
• Previous outbound phone sales experience is preferred 
• Comfortable functioning independently in a remote working arrangement 
• Proven track record working in a target-driven environment 
• Experience with conservation, energy efficiency, water efficiency or similar program outreach, education and/or providing technical assistance 
• Representing Ecology Action and the Whole House Upgrade Program professionally to the public
• Proficiency with MS Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with residential and/or commercial construction, green building, green jobs workforce development and similar practices, particularly those programs or practices within Santa Clara County
• Familiarity with renewable energy technologies for residential and/or commercial use
• General familiarity with regional and state environmental policy and building codes
• Second language writing and speaking proficiency desired, especially but not limited to Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and/or Russian
• Direct green building, construction, energy efficiency, or marketing experience
• General familiarity with environmental rebate and/or incentive programs such as utility rebates or California Solar Initiative
• Driving an insured personal vehicle on company business is required, and reimbursement is provided at the current IRS mileage rate

Additional Information:

Generally, the work environment is an office setting at Ecology Action's office in Santa Cruz, CA. if the employee is based in Santa Cruz. If the employee is based elsewhere in the state, a home office may be considered. This position requires extensive travel (50% to 70%).

This EUC program is funded through December 2013. Upon delivery of pre-established goals, program funding could be extended through December 2014.

Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
