Position Overview:

Your role is to build and develop a high performing sales territory for Vaisala's Energy Sales - North America. You report to the National Sales Manager - Energy - Weather Critical Operations.

Your main responsibility will be to grow and generate revenue by maximizing the sales of Weather Critical Operations with a market focus on discovering new opportunities within renewable energy markets, and utilities in North America. This is a role that includes prospecting, investigation, consultative selling and assisting the Market Segment in creating a product offering and market strategy. Current sales to this market amount to several million dollars. This role requires a highly motivated self driven person willing to develop a deep understanding of customer processes and solutions. Ideal candidate will be just as comfortable selling concepts as defined systems. Applicant with several years experience working in the Energy market is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Investigating new opportunities and fostering relationships within these markets
  • Developing a sales strategy to win new customers
  • Sell solutions that include instruments, data and processing equipment to these markets
  • Achieving sales budget, profitability and cost-efficiency
  • Leading performance through setting and meeting clear targets
  • Reporting regional performance and business status by using latest tools in Vaisala
  • Providing market requirements back to the Energy Market Segment
  • Actively facilitate closer relationships with the customers.

In 2 years from now, you will have achieved the following:

  • Achieved a respected business position in these markets
  • Command market knowledge and respect from the industry

  • Identify and grow business in this expanding weather critical market.

Qualifications:

Key qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree required, masters preferred
  • Application knowledge of the renewable energy, and transmission operations
  • At minimum 5 years related technical single unit and solutions oriented sales experience
  • Must be able to travel 50% for customer development
  • Good understanding of the region's business culture
  • Knowledge of contract business practices is a plus
  • Articulate, effective and persuasive communicator
  • Commercial negotiation skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent English, preferably also French or Spanish
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Ability to take rejection and work in an uneven playing field
