Description
The Columbia County Weed Control Coordinator will coordinate weed control activities within Columbia County through work with three county watershed councils, spray crews, and the Soil & Water Conservation District Manager to track spray sites, number of control years, and effectives.
The position will be responsible for incorporating new sites into the database and coordinating spray activities accordingly. The Control Coordinator will assist with project specific weed control outreach and development including grant research/writing and coordinating education programs, presentations and workshops.
This is an AmeriCorps position with the newly created Professional Placement program (P2), offered through the Northwest Service Academy's Lower Columbia Center. P2 has been designed to provide opportunities for highly qualified professionals to serve on compelling, environmentally focused projects. A win-win situation is achieved by placing highly qualified professionals in an environment that allows them to transition into this promising field while contributing to the developmental needs of a small non-profit or a transitional program with a larger organization.
Compensation: Benefits include monthly stipend of $1,250 before taxes, education award of $4,725, health insurance, loan forbearance, child care allowance, and training and professional development opportunities.
