The YEN is a national network of youth environmental non-government organizations (YENGOs). We help to build YENGOs' capacity so that their efforts are more effective.
Often YENGOs find it useful to connect with one another for mentorship purposes or sharing information and resources. In order to make these exchanges more common and easier, the YEN is compiling an online database of YENGOs on the YEN website. This database will host information on YENGOs that will allow individuals, NGOs and government to contact them.
Duties:
- Identify and contact various Canadian YENGOs for inclusion in the database.
- The YEN has a great deal of contact information for YENGOs already; the position entails confirming this information as well as identifying and contacting new groups.
- Compile a YENGO database. A comprehensive YEN online members database will be created by the YEN web programmer to house this information.
- The position involves adding member contact information to this database.
- Collaborate with YEN staff and Sierra Youth Coalition Sustainable Campuses Researcher on creating project joint publicity brochures.
- Oversee the translation of group descriptions.
Qualifications:
- Strong communications skills;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Bilingual (French/English) an asset;
- Ability to work in a flexible work environment;
- Understanding of the youth environmental movement;
- Familiarity with website development could prove useful.
Start date: February 2004
Contract Wage, $3,500.00
Location: YEN National Office, Ottawa, Ontario (This position could be done from a distance.
