The position is immediately available for employment at a 50% level, with opportunities to expand into a full time position.

Qualifications:

We are recruiting exceptional candidates with a master's degree in fields related to risk assessment (e.g., engineering) with 3 years of risk assessment experience or a bachelor's degree and 6 years experience.  Outstanding qualifications as a technical writer on risk assessment topics, and the demonstrated ability to prepare risk assessment reports that include substantial sections on environmental modeling are also required.

The ideal candidate should have a practical understanding of risk assessment modeling that covers source releases, fate and transport, exposure, and health/ecological effects. The candidate must have demonstrated experiencing in developing quality written risk assessment reports/analyses that present national scale risk assessments conducted by RTI for EPA clients. Technical writing on risk assessment and related topics will be an important component of this position, and the candidate should have experience in proposal writing for federal clients as well as the preparation of business/marketing materials.

In addition, the candidate should be familiar with a variety of risk assessment models, particularly EPA's Multimedia, Multireceptor, Multipathway Risk Assessment (3MRA) modeling system and the Industrial Waste Air Model (IWAIR), as well as key data sources such as EPA's Exposure Factors Handbook that are critical to our risk assessment work.

In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have experience in environment modeling and database design/development to ensure all reports are technically accurate and appropriate. The candidate must have experience in using basic software packages (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) to produce technical reports, papers, and assist in developing technical presentations.
