Description

Ecos Consulting is seeking to fill a Research Analyst position in its Durango, Colorado office. As a Research Analyst, you will work on cutting-edge research and policy topics at the intersection of energy and environmental issues. You will be able to develop close relationships with colleagues while shaping today's energy policy and your own future. As a member of the Research and Policy Team, you will experience all the benefits of working for a small company, while also having a decisive impact on government policies and corporate actors in the energy-efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability fields.

Role Description

In the Research Analyst position, you will be responsible for developing expertise on a unique set of topics. You will collaborate with the Research team in its work on consumer electronics efficiency, efficiency of advanced lighting technologies, renewable and alternative energy technologies, and transportation.

You will be responsible for testing the energy efficiency of consumer products in the laboratory, maintaining data sets, and estimating energy use and savings potential (often on the basis of limited data). Your primary role will be to translate that scientific work into market outcomes by establishing relevant contacts with industry and subject matter experts, creating visuals that effectively communicate data and conclusions, writing reports recommending specific policy actions, and giving highly visual presentations of research findings to industry members, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

You will be responsible for managing your own workload relative to budgets agreed upon with the project manager. You will be required to travel to meet with clients and stakeholders associated with your area of expertise. In addition, you will have some opportunity to assist with corporate business development.

The ideal candidate for the Research Analyst position should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree related to energy, environmental science, or engineering and 1 to 3 years of energy-oriented environmental work experience. The candidate should have a strong background in science or engineering and have demonstrated lab or field measurement and data analysis experience. In addition, the candidate should have a strong ability to communicate technical subjects to lay audiences, both in written and verbal form. The ability to work well both independently and with a team is essential.

At Ecos Consulting, salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience. We also offer goal-based incentives and a generous contribution toward employee benefits. Our comprehensive benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) with employer match, and a wide variety of voluntary benefit options.
