Description
Navarro is a premier contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) providing environmental, renewable energy and energy efficiency, nuclear, information technology, and quality and safety services. Navarro has over three hundred fifty employees working in fourteen offices and twenty-three project locations nationwide.
Position Overview:
The primary responsibilities are to support the US Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Program at the Golden Field Office. This position directly supports DOE funded research, development and commercialization of new technologies in the area of Renewable Energy (RE) Programs including Solar, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Wind and Hydrokinetic. The primary functions of the position are to support the award/grant process, provide project oversight, prepare technical and cost evaluations, ensure budget management, and support project close-out.
Responsibilities:
As a team lead, the position also supervises a team of 10 engineers and program specialists assigned to RE projects. Specific supervisory responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure appropriate work assignments and distribution among RE project engineering & other project support personnel
- Ensure consistent implementation of Navarro policies and procedures among team members including approval of timesheets and work schedules
- Identify customer service successes and issues. Work with Project Manager to develop and implement cross-cutting solutions related to customer service.
- Support annual performance appraisals and self-evaluations
- Lead cross-cutting projects and special assignments on an as-needed basis
- Support Project Manager in recruiting, hiring, transition and training of new employees
The candidate will communicate directly with a variety of groups within GO including project management, procurement, administrative services, environmental, financial, and legal staff. In addition, the candidate will have contact with DOE Headquarters, National Laboratories, private industry, state/local governments, professional organizations, industry advocates, universities, and award recipients. The position requires a high level of diplomacy in developing relationships with a variety of institutions including government, laboratories, private industry, and academia as well as internal Golden Field Office groups.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science and 5-10 years of experience (or equivalent combination). The candidate should also have the following qualifications:
- customer service as evidenced by responsiveness to customer/client problems & needs
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- excellent planning and organizational skills
- advanced computer skills
- experience with spreadsheet development, project scheduling and tracking, cost estimation, and data analysis
- demonstrated foresight and mature engineering judgment
- previous leadership experience including management and supervision of personnel
Preferred:
A Masters Degree in Engineering or Science with 5-10 years of experience, working in private industry or federal government involving R&D and/or commercialization, including 1-3 years of management experience.
