Description

Conservation Services Group, Inc. (CSG) seeks a full time program manager for renewable energy in its New Jersey office.

CSG, one of the fastest growing and most diverse clean energy companies in the country, provides energy conservation and renewable energy consulting and program management services to utility companies, state agencies and private market customers.  CSG's New Jersey office is responsible for implementation of several renewable energy programs, which are sponsored by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities' Clean Energy Program.

Position Overview:

Approximately three-quarters of the Program Manager's time will be spent on the Clean Power Choice Program, which encourages NJ consumers to purchase clean power through the utilities that serve them, supporting the development of clean, renewable, and diversified sources of energy, as well as a healthier environment. CleanPower include solar, wind, landfill gas, low-impact or small hydro power, from sources located in NJ and the mid-Atlantic region.

The NJBPU Office of Clean Energy verifies that renewable energy is delivered into the Mid Atlantic power pool.  The Program Manager will be responsible for CSG's implementation of this program.

The remaining one-quarter of the Program Manager's time will be spent on the New Jersey Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) Program.  SREC's are tradable certificates that represent all the clean energy benefits of electricity generated from a solar electric system. Each time a solar electric system generates 1000kWh (1MWh) of electricity, an SREC is issued which can then be sold or traded separately from the power.

The NJ SREC Program provides a means for SRECs to be created and verified on the behalf of consumers. The Program's website facilitates the sale of SRECs to electric suppliers who are required to invest in solar energy purchase SRECs under New Jersey's Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS). This requirement increases each year, so that SRECs from the equivalent of a total of 90MW of solar electricity will be required by 2009. All solar system owners in NJ with grid-connected generators can participate in New Jersey's SREC Program by registering for an electronic account on the Program website.

Qualified candidates will have a strong understanding of renewable energy and/or experience with marketing community or voluntary programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day functions of Program operations ensuring compliance with client and CSG requirements.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives and short- and long-range planning.
  • Work with the NJ Renewable Market Director to establish reasonable goals for the CleanPower Choice and SREC Programs.
  • Ensure that the NJBPU and CSG reach agreement on these goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with various trade allies who may assist these programs, including clean power marketers and industry contractors.
  • Provide staff supervision and director for direct reports as needed to meet Program goals.
  • Obtain additional resources as needed for the successful completion of these goals and for the maintenance of good relations with the NJBPU.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • The CleanPower Choice Program Manager should have 5-7 years experience in the renewable energy field.  Experience in managing community or voluntary programs is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of renewable energy including PV, solar thermal, wind and biomass.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow-through in areas of responsibility required for the position.
  • Must have a clean driving record, with no DUI or felony convictions. Record check will be performed annually.
