Position Overview

AWS Truepower is seeking both entry-level and mid-level Renewable Energy Analysts to join the Energy Services group. AWST Analysts contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. This position will work under the direction of an Energy Team Leader having responsibility for the completion of high-quality renewable energy analysis work. The analysis of renewable energy projects at AWST involves working across the full spectrum of analysis from initial data acquisition, checking and archiving through site layout and optimization to the completed energy reports.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and efficient completion of high-quality renewable energy analysis work
  • Carry out both pre-construction and operational energy analyses under supervision, including:
  • Review, validation, and analysis of meteorological data for solar and wind resource assessment
  • Design and optimization of wind and solar plants to meet project requirements
  • Estimation of plant losses and calculation of assessment uncertainties
  • Management and analysis of project data
  • Evaluation of project constraints, risks, and other non-quantitative aspects of plant development (mid-level)
  • Turbine site suitability assessments
  • Contribute to reports of analysis for clients
  • Mentor junior staff (mid-level)
  • Understand and ensure company quality control standards are met
  • Support business development activities, including meeting with customers and presenting at conferences (mid-level)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Mid-level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, or engineering field from an accredited University
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in the wind or solar energy sector
  • Proven track record with meteorological data analysis
  • Working knowledge of current wind turbine technology preferred
  • Database management skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Openwind, Windographer, and/or other related software tools required
  • Numerical computer programming language skills preferred
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and statistics/graphical software packages such as R, Matlab, GEMPAK, and ArcGIS
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Entry-level:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a physical science or engineering field from an accredited University
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in the wind or solar energy sector
  • Experience with meteorological data analysis
  • Database management skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Openwind, Windographer, and/or other related software tools preferred
  • Numerical computer programming language skills preferred
