Position Overview:

EarthShare New England (ESNE) seeks a temporary part-time contractor based in the Boston or Metro Boston area to serve as liaison in the New England region for member organizations and campaign partners. Campaign partners include State and Federal employees, as well as private corporations throughout the area.

In this position, you will be an independent contractor working on a temporary part-time basis.

  • The Assistant will work approximately 20 hours per week for 16 weeks from September to December. Schedule is dependent on campaign events.
  • Incumbent must have a car or other reliable means of transportation to cover assigned region campaigns across New England.
  • Public speaking experience is also a must. Reliability and follow through are required.
  • This position is home-based, and as such, requires the incumbent to have an established home office that includes: telecommunication (telephone, fax, voicemail) and computing capabilities (PC, email, word processing, spreadsheet).
  • Knowledge of environmental issues is preferable.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will report to the EarthShare New England Managing Director (ESNE MD). Specific duties include:

1. Directly support ESNE campaigns by:

  • distributing materials and representing ESNE at campaign event information tables and kick-off events;
  • maintaining adequate supplies of giveaway items and brochures;
  • developing short oral presentations incorporating information on ESNE member programs and services of particular interest to donors at various campaign events;
  • assisting national staff and ESNE MD in the development of press releases and other informational materials which highlight ESNE programs of local and regional interest;
  • acknowledging and distributing campaign worker and/or donor awards;
  • attending and/or appearing and speaking at campaign recognition events;

2. Assist national staff and ESNE MD with analysis and strategic planning for campaigns by:

  • providing detailed evaluations at the end of each campaign season;
  • maintaining detailed records of key people in each campaign;
  • making suggestions for improving designations;
  • communicating regularly with ESNE MD, and possibly with EarthShare National Campaign Director (ESNA CD), fellow Regional Directors and other appropriate staff by telephone, email and monthly reports. Monthly invoices and reports will be submitted to ESNE MD and ESNA CD, including an "Hours and Expense" report for reimbursement, and an "Activity Summary" describing meetings and campaign events attended for that month (by type - CFC, other public and corporate);
  • ensuring that complete campaign results are forwarded to ESNA CD and ESNE MD on a timely basis.

3. Assist campaign coordinating/planning committees by:

  • planning and attending special events;
  • representing ESNE at campaign keyworker trainings.
