Position Overview

The Richmond office of McGuireWoods seeks an Associate for the Real Estate and Land Use Department, on the renewable energy team.

Our renewable energy team is on the front lines of the high-profile, legal regulatory and business issues that are emerging in the current energy, environmental and infrastructure markets (e.g., renewable energy sources, related transactions and regulation, among others).

We represent developers, investors, industrials, utilities and customers of renewable energy facilities in connection with:

  1. the development, acquisition and financing of renewable energy projects;
  2. siting projects and facilities;
  3. interconnection and permitting issues;
  4. the purchase and sale of energy and energy commodities;
  5. the purchase and sale of renewable energy companies; and
  6. renewable energy project and operational capital-raising transactions.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified candidates will have 4+ years of commercial real estate experience.
  • The ideal candidate should have expertise in real estate finance, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development and other sophisticated commercial real estate transactions (both single asset and multi-asset).
  • Experience on the real estate aspects of renewable and conventional energy project acquisition and development is a major plus.
  • Top academic credentials, drafting and communication skills and a thorough understanding of title and survey and other commercial real estate due diligence required.

Note: This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, fast paced, national real estate practice group working on a wide range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, with a particular focus on energy project transactions.
