Position Overview 

The Proposal Writer / Senior Proposal Analyst works closely with the Director, Proposal Development, and regional business development staff to support proposal and business development efforts that result in customized, winning proposals.

The Senior Proposal Analyst understands industry trends within the region and is accountable for ensuring proposals are responsive to RFP requirements and aligned with regional proposal strategy and corporate-defined best practice design components.

Duties include: 

  • Working collaboratively with the region's business development team to coordinate and facilitate win plan development for large scale opportunities ($1M+ total NSR); direct, coordinate, and manage large teams of multidisciplinary proposal teams (10+ members);
  • High-level familiarity and experience with all aspects of proposal development (e.g., scope of work, budget, win plan strategy development/planning, project management and proposal design, and compliance management); and
  • Strong capabilities in project management, proposal / program design, development of original content, copy editing, and formatting. 

This position is a highly competent facilitator and leader, able to guide cross-functional groups, problem resolution discussions, partnership development and alignment, and continuous improvement efforts; provides exceptional attention to detail and quality control; and will occasionally oversees other team members in responding to smaller proposal efforts.

The Senior Proposal Analyst must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. The Senior Proposal Analyst ensures that all information presented in a proposal is accurate, positively reflects the company's capabilities, and meets the RFP/RFI's objectives and submission requirements.

The Senior Proposal Analyst will also be responsible for following established proposal development processes and procedures, coordinating tasks to meet applicable deadlines, interviewing internal and external subject matter experts, and assisting with proposal production activities.

The Senior Proposal Analyst must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the regional business development lead on large opportunities (+$1M total NSR) to develop the proposal win plan, strategy and plan prior to RFP release.
  • Read and analyze the RFP.
  • Manage the overall proposal development process including draft generation and reviews.
  • Develop the proposal plan.
  • Facilitate budget development activities including budget review and final approval.
  • Ensure proposal compliance with RFP requirements.
  • Complete assignments within allotted timeframes.
  • Effectively communicate proposal win themes and strategies to SMEs and other stakeholders in proposal development activities.
  • Work effectively across a geographically dispersed team to develop a compelling proposal.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts to develop proposal content that is compliant with the RFP, persuasive, and compelling while supporting strategies and win themes.
  • Follow established proposal processes and file organization criteria.
  • Provide technical writing, editing, and/or proofreading.
  • Provide quality assurance for all documents and materials. Ensure compliance with RFP requirements, strategies, win themes, corporate identity, branding, and accurate content.
  • Assist in producing, assembling, shipping and delivering proposals in accordance with RFP requirements.
  • Responsible for high-quality content and appearance of the final proposal product and the on-time delivery of the proposal.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and document and implement actions to improve overall process.
  • Nights, weekends, and travel as required accommodating workload and meeting delivery of deadline-driven projects.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in Technical Writing, Marketing, English or Journalism and at least five years related experience in writing and editing large, complex proposals; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: ability to communicate persuasively and professionally with internal staff and management team.
  • Reasoning Ability: ability to define problems briefly and succinctly, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret a wide variety of information.
  • Computer Skills: to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience with internet research, SharePoint, Customer Relationship Software tools and advanced abilities in the Microsoft Office suite of software and Adobe Acrobat.
