Founded in 1981, The Energy Coalition, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, facilitates partnerships that empower utility end-users (municipal governments, businesses, students and residents) to practice smart energy management. A key program facilitated by The Energy Coalition is the Community Energy Partnership (CEP).
The CEP is a collaboration between Southern California Edison, The Gas Company and Southern California cities, including Brea, Corona, Irvine, Palm Desert, Moreno Valley, Santa Clarita, San Bernardino, and Santa Monica. The CEP is a multidimensional energy efficiency retrofit and educational program, funded from public goods charges collected from utility ratepayers statewide.
Position Overview:
The Energy Coalition is seeking a full-time Project Manager that will report to the Program Manager. Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Program Manager, the Project Manager will identify opportunities for energy efficiency projects within municipal facilities and provide hands-on assistance to program participants throughout the retrofit process. The Project Manager will work with a dynamic team to provide support and build relationships with municipal customers throughout Southern California.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with Facility Operations staff on identifying opportunities for comprehensive energy efficiency retrofit projects
- Analyze data and develop engineering calculations (costs and benefits) of customized energy efficiency and demand response projects to determine opportunities within municipal facilities. Provide written recommendations with energy savings and cost reduction estimates
- Conduct energy audits, develop site-specific energy audit reports and review report recommendations with program participants
- Assist customers throughout bidding process, and provide technical assistance to customers throughout design and installation process
- Work with project teams including City staff, Utility representatives and TEC staff to ensure all energy savings goals are met.
- Serve as a technical resource for the team across multiple projects
- Develop strong contacts with Facilities Operations staff and utility Account Managers
- Communicate the engineering and technical aspects of building improvement measures through reports and presentations to multiple audiences at meetings or events
- Provide project management support during project implementation
- Provide support in obtaining LEED or Energy Star certification
- Identify educational opportunities and trainings to enhance knowledge of municipal staff
- Provide comprehensive support to all CEP activities and other Energy Coalition activities as directed by Program Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 5 years of professional working experience, with at least 3 years of providing engineering expertise in the identification, design and implementation of energy efficiency projects.
- Experience with municipal projects preferred.
- Excellent client management skills with ability to develop long term relationships.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational, time management and follow-through skills
- Understanding of utility rebate and incentive application process
- Willingness to travel locally in Southern California region
- Familiarity with Energy Star and LEED.
- Familiarity with energy concepts, such as energy efficiency and demand response.
- Passion for energy efficiency and the environment
- A positive attitude
Compensation: Depending on qualifications. Benefits: Health, 401(k), 9/80 schedule
