Position Overview:

The Project Finance Analyst is a key part of the project finance management team, and plays a central role in the planning, design, and execution of project finance and financial modeling at both DEF and HPI. The Project Finance Analyst will be an integral part of a small team responsible for raising capital for renewable energy projects through multiple types of financing, and may also participate in corporate equity and debt financing; responsibilities also include structuring direct sales of projects for the HelioPower EPC group as well as the vetting and structuring of financing for externally sourced projects.

Projects will include both commercial and industrial photovoltaics, and integrated solutions incorporating energy efficiency, solar thermal, biomass, energy analytics, demand response, and other clean energy solutions. The Project Finance Analyst must effectively interface directly with investors and with C-level executives. The Project Finance Analyst will report directly to the VP Project Finance, and will work directly with all the senior executives of the Helio Group.

Reports to:  VP, Project Finance, HelioPower Inc.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, refine and optimize project economics for PV and integrated energy solutions.
  • Manage deal flow between commercial sales team and project finance team.
  • Manage, improve, and implement financial models for tax-equity and other deal structures.
  • Support EPC sales activities as necessary by preparing financing analysis to be used in sales presentation.
  • Prepare financial models required for corporate equity and debt funding purposes.
  • Develop and improve modeling tools for project financing to integrate with lease and PPA financings.
  • Work with executive team to manage the integration of project finance with corporate accounting and planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree ideally in quantitative or technical field, MBA preferred
  • 3 - 7 years work experience in finance or solar industry
  • Excellence in financial modeling
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Knowledge of structured finance and tax-driven investments
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and financial and accounting principles
  • Exceptional detail orientation
  • Ability to communicate complicated and technical points clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Able to rapidly assimilate and synthesize information
  • Familiarity with solar PV industry economic drivers
  • Ability to analyze energy costs
  • Desire and ability to work in an unstructured environment requiring self-motivation and self-direction
  • Demonstrate intelligence, energy, integrity and collaborative nature
  • Ability and desire to develop creative "out of the box" solutions to problems
