Description
The Academy for Educational Development (AED) is looking for a seasoned,
senior-level communicator to oversee its global strategic environmental
communications project, GreenCOM.
Background:
Funded by the U.S. Agency for
International Development (USAID) and administered by the AED in
Washington, D.C., GreenCOM provides strategic environmental
communications support to developing countries through USAID missions
worldwide.
Responsibilities include:
- management of the project's overall
strategic direction; - technical leadership, with a focus on synthesis and
dissemination; - oversight of administrative requirements;
- recruitment and
supervision of D.C.- and internationally-based teams.
Qualifications include:
- 10+ years of senior-level experience in environmental education,
environmental communication, social marketing, environmental interpretation
and/or environmental sociology; - experience managing complex international
programs, including effective collaboration with U.S. and international
governments, bi/multi-lateral aid organizations, NGOs, community-based
organizations, and media; - strong contacts with the environmental and
development sectors in the U.S. and abroad; - excellent interpersonal, writing,
organizational and team-building skills. - Ph.D. in environmental education,
environmental communication or a related discipline preferred, as is
proficiency in French or Spanish.
Up to 25% time international travel required.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
