Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as Project Coordinator in the areas of communities and schools.
SEI is a non-profit corporation. Through funding from federal, state, city, and private organizations, SEI helps communities design and implement energy efficiency programs.
We approach energy savings from several different perspectives and on many levels. Drawing from a broad range of practical knowledge, we build networks of people and communities that are the key to successful energy projects.

Duties:
- The Project Coordinator will work with numerous communities linking them to an array of resources aimed at improving the energy efficiency and sustainable building practices of their facilities.
- The Project Coordinator will also assist schools and school districts to improve their learning environment through energy efficiency and energy education activities.
- As a small organization, our staff members work closely in a team oriented environment supporting each other with existing projects and creatively developing new opportunities.
- The Project Coordinator will act as the primary contact for their targeted clients to assist them in identifying and implementing energy efficiency and sustainable building practices.
- Project Coordinators will conduct outreach to clients, work closely with them to assess their individual needs, help them access resources and help design programs to address those needs.
- Project Coordinator will aid clients in getting publicity for their successes, and build connections to similar organizations to share lessons learned.
- Although each of the three positions will implement unique programs specific to their areas of focus schools, communities, and multifamily housing all three share the same core responsibilities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with key decision makers in communities to understand their specific challenges and help develop programs, leveraging appropriate resources to address needs.
- Making presentations to decision makers about energy efficiency and other resources, including the services available through SEI.
- Assisting with day-to-day program oversight and management.
- Preparing reports and spreadsheets quantifying and tabulating findings.
- Coordinating and facilitating meetings.
- Helping clients apply for assistance under various programs.
- Helping to maintain a network of peers to share experiences.
- Serve as a clearinghouse for information related to energy efficiency and other related topics and provide such information as needed by clients.
- Coordinate with appropriate state and federal agencies to provide assistance to the communities
- Work with other SEI team members to develop and implement innovative programs and/or expand community based programs.
- Activities may include identifying funding sources and writing grant proposals.
Qualifications:
The successful candidates will have most or all of the following qualities, skills, and experience plus experience specific to the area addressed by the specific position for which they are applying, i.e. schools, communities, and multifamily housing:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, energy management, public policy, environmental sciences, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A demonstrated ability to present complex information in an easy to understand manner
- Demonstrated experience in managing and growing programs.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to develop realistic project plans and coordinate multiple efforts within a program easily and seamlessly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work closely with a wide range of client organizations and staff such as school district personnel, facilities personnel, city managers, property owners, energy staff, building operators, utility representatives, program managers, and non-profit personnel.
- Strong facilitation and coaching/mentoring skills.
- An understanding of energy efficiency technologies including lighting, central heating and cooling systems, energy controls and building shells and analysis.
- Familiarity with available financial and technical assistance programs for energy efficiency and other related topics, including experience with program application processes.
- Strong presentation and marketing skills; an ability to understand the complex needs of communities and explain the resources and possible solutions available to solve a variety of challenges.
- Computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet capabilities are essential.
