Position Overview
CEE is seeking to hire a Program Manager to join its industrial team. As co-chair of the CEE Motors and Motor Systems Committee, the Program Manager convenes administrators of ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs from across the United States and Canada and identifies areas of common need and value to programs.
The Program Manager researches industrial efficiency technologies and markets, collects product and program information, and performs analysis as required. The Program Manager also reaches out to industrial equipment manufacturers, distributors, and service providers to invite input on CEE work and to advance organizational objectives.
The Program Managers uses research results, committee guidance, and industry input to develop consensus-based recommendations for the organization. The successful candidate will use this process to help facilitate broad-based program adoption of CEE recommendations. The desired result is to accelerate markets for industrial energy efficiency in North America and to enable greater energy savings for programs.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to lead and support the CEE Motors and Motor Systems Committee. Specific responsibilities include:
- Facilitate regular committee meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders via teleconference, webinar, extranet and in-person
- Build consensus among CEE members and other stakeholders on approaches to accelerate market acceptance of energy efficient products and services
- Recruit organizations to incorporate recommended approaches into their local programs
- Build alliances with key market players (e.g. manufacturers, distributors, associations, etc.)
- Recommend strategies for affecting national markets for electric motors and motor systems, such as compressed air, blowers and pumps
- Support ongoing industrial energy efficiency communications campaigns, such as Motor Decisions MatterSM
- Write professional papers, initiative descriptions, program guides and meeting notes
- Monitor relevant technology, market, policy, and other industry developments
- Assess current market conditions and energy savings opportunities
- Analyze savings potential and synthesize experiences into recommendations for member programs or consideration
Qualifications
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience (for example, a BA or BS and three years of employment experience) in business, communications or with energy programs
- Two years of relevant work experience in a professional work environment. Experience with the business decision drivers of industrial companies is desirable
- Strong writing, communications, and presentation skills, including proven ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups via multiple media (web application, e-mail, and phone)
- Demonstrated facilitation skills and leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical and engineering concepts in business terms
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects and deadlines, including the ability to develop and manage project timelines and stage deliverables
- Willingness to travel, averaging approximately 1-2 trips per quarter
