Position Overview:
CEE is seeking a Program Manager with cross cutting experience and/or education in business, science and marketing who has a demonstrated capability in researching and utilizing technical or market information to develop an approach to a problem. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing CEE's programs to advance commercial lighting energy efficiency in the US and Canada. This individual will report to the Senior Program Manager of the Commercial Sector as part of a four-person team.
We seek candidates with demonstrated analytical and facilitation skills, creative strategic thinking and who have a passion for energy efficiency. The individual hired will work collaboratively with the commercial team and other CEE staff in support of CEE member committees including the commercial and joint commercial and residential lighting committees. Direct experience working in the lighting industry would be desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the CEE commercial lighting initiative, including maintaining the relevance of existing bi-national performance specifications, while assessing and exploring new program opportunities (e.g., system lighting design, controls, new product performance specifications)
- Serve as the principal contact and agent for sustaining and advancing the strategic direction of CEE's commercial lighting initiative
- Facilitate and support regular committee meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders via teleconference, virtual extranet platform, and in person
- Manage and maintain an online forum for advancing committee work
- Collaborate and cultivate relationships with industry partners including manufacturers, trade associations, and other stakeholders to inform CEE direction and work products
- Oversee management and maintenance of CEE commercial lighting qualifying products lists
- Research lighting technologies, approaches, market conditions and energy savings opportunities
- Analyze savings potential and synthesize experiences into recommendations for member consideration and for work planning purposes
- Develop and disseminate market and technology assessments, program guides, program summaries, qualifying products lists, white papers, and explorations. Communications mediums include but are not limited to the CEE website, the CEE extranet (Forum), electronic communications, and oral presentations
- Monitor and communicate to internal and external stakeholders relevant technology, market, policy, federal minimum standards, and other industry developments that impact lighting efficiency programs
- Survey CEE members about program practices and methods and compile program summaries
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, for example, a BA or BS including graduate coursework, honors thesis, or significant applicable employment experience, in a relevant field, such as engineering, economics, marketing, public policy or environmental studies
- Minimum of two years of full time work experience, preferably related to the lighting or building industry, in an architecture, engineering, marketing, energy efficiency, or regulatory affairs capacity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and work constructively with individuals of varied experience levels and personalities to achieve consensus
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects, manage project timelines, and to work independently
- Ability to understand market motivations and dynamics
- Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative information for different audiences
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office software
- Willingness to travel (approximately one trip quarterly)
